you should use wood chippings rather than shavings, as snakes don't like the dust that you get in shavings

i know - about the shavings, but it came subbed on shavings & was desperate for a clean out, obv. they were all i had in myself, so unfortunately it's stuck on them.
went to the pet shop for it's mice, tried getting some chippings but they didn't have any in, and leaping lizards were shutting up shop when i got over there
also, due to the fact it's going to vent whenever you touch it for a good while to come, we figured something absorbent would suit better for a while
they're dust extracted shavings anyway, so they shouldn't be too bad.
none of the cheap muck i sub the guineas on
