Obelisk the Tormentor - TOOOOORMENT!!

TOOOOORMENT!!

season starts tomorrow for me with reading away to forest. im pretty confident as weve had a good pre-season, but until they get down to it its hard to tell

does anyone think luton, rotherham and bournemouth will be able to survive? or alternatively, how soon will any of them be relegated?

Luton haven't got a squad good enough to come back from a 30 point fine. Sam Parkin and Lewis Emmanuel have always impressed me in the lower leagues, but they're no miracle workers. Considering aswell. the turnover of playing staff they've had this summer; it's gonna take a while for the squad to gel and that may already be too late.

Although I feel sorry for the fans, the sooner Rotherham f*cks off, the better. Got a feeling they could survive, but no doubt by spending money they haven't got, again. One club that never learns its' lesson.

I hope Bournemouth sink like a stone. Sh*t club.

I know it's only a News of the Screws story, but this made me laugh:

Apparently Comical Calderon and his fascist chums at Madrid are planning to sue Ronaldo for £17m for refusing to join them. If this is true (a big 'if' of course) then how can they still claim they haven't tapped him up?

I assume one of them will, seeing as only two go down

No one can come back from a 30 point gap. I think of the other two Rotherham have a better squad, but yeah it does depend on whether they actually exist as a club by the end of the season.

One of the worst penalty shoot-out displays I've ever seen from Portsmouth there. Have they employed John Terry as penalty coach or something?

A good performance from Utd but it hasn't done much to allay my fears we may have problems penetration-wise for the first few weeks, with Ronaldo out until October and Rooney still struggling with this virus he picked up in that stupid trip to Nigeria. Don't think we'll get away with another slow start this season.

It was also pretty puzzling to see Nani, our most threatening player today, substituted when he's missing the next two games anyway. Also a bit disappointed Rafael and Possebon didn't get a run out, since we had six substitutions to play with. But anyway, roll on next Sunday.

Fine finish to a cracking pre-season for Tottenham today, spazzing on Roma 5-0. Now watch them struggle to a 1-1 draw at Boro next week.

If Darren Bent brings his pre-season form into this campaign, then not a chance.

Here's hoping he does, he's looked sharp. As has Bentley and Lennon, and the new keeper Gomes. Dos Santos is looking like a real bargain though, i think he'll do well if he can work out British defenders and not let some of the more cuntish ones wind him up, which could happen.

Aye, to be honest this is probably the best team Spurs have had in a long time. Now Keane has gone, Bent really has an opportunity this year to repay some of that £16m and establish himself as a truely decent British striker.

Friendlies are one thing, but if he can bring that kind of form into the games that actually matter, I reckon he has the potential to be a 20 goal a season man for Spurs. One thing Tottenham lacked a lot of last term is the kind of service he thrives on. With quality like Modric, Bentley and Dos Santos coming into the team - who can create the space and deliveries he needs, he'll probably not get a better opportunity in his career to step up to the plate.

13 Goals in the last 7 friendlies, including 2 hatricks and I think, 10 goals in the space of a week or something stupid. As well as hitting the woodwork in the only friendly he didn't score in, not half bad. Dos Santos has impressed me with his skill and awareness. 3 goals, a couple assists and forcing an OG against Norwich, a real gem of a player.

Bentley brings balance to the team, as there's now proper wingers on both sides with an eye for goal, decent delivery and pace. Modric in the centre to do the dirty work and dictate the game and Gomes, although looking pretty shakey in some games pre-season, is a sound keeper. I'd be surprised if your lot don't turn over Middlesbrough this weekend.

Depending on how Spurs start the season, they might be worth a cheeky punt for a CL spot.

Jimmy: Holy sh*t everything's Barry.
Steve-Dave: Everything's better!
Puffalump: Barrier
Steve-Dave: The Barryest it's ever been
Jimmy: I can't wait for more "Important Barry and changes"
Steve-Dave: Well there will be some Barry and changes coming soon, because we need more donations. It no longer just takes £10 a year to help Barry survive
Steve-Dave: It takes like... £13
Steve-Dave: Barry has to walk 5 metres to his car every day... just to go to work and earn money for DVDs and comic books
Steve-Dave: His eyesight is so bad... that he has to wear glasses. Stylish rimless glasses which cost €250
Steve-Dave: His living space is so cramped... that h had to put his workout bench in the garage meaning he doesn't really use it any more
Steve-Dave: But for just €13 a year... You can help Barry afford a DVD that he heard was good but has been out for a while so it's not as expensive as new DVDs
Steve-Dave: Please... Give generously... And help save this poor man's DVD shelf from not being completely full because it just looks weird when it's nearly full. I mean, when it's half full, that's fine. But when there's only a few gaps left... it just looks kinda sad.... y'know
Steve-Dave: Thank you
Rayanne Graff: It scares me when people refer to themselves in the third person.
Steve-Dave: It scares Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. too
Steve-Dave: Like my Grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII Esq. always said: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. gets scared when people refer to themselves in the third person, and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. promises to never do that"
Steve-Dave: And like my twin brother, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. (or Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. for short) says: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. doesn't like when people refer to themselves in the third person. You and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. must have gotten that from our grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq."
Rayanne Graff: You nerds crack me up.
Steve-Dave: Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. all try our best
Rayanne Graff: ... in the pants department.
