Old oak

It's my birthday on Wednesday, so Happy Birthday to me. I'm 203; Happy Birthday to me! Actually, I have to admit I'm really 205, but it doesn't really rhyme. I know it should be to "yew" but I'm a quercus. I am celebrating by shedding my leaves and getting drunk; cheers, hic. Now don't take advantage of me in this condishun, WLW, please.

The Barking Tree

Happy B'day, Barking Tree. Mind those candles don't set alight.

In a world where Katy Perry ("I pretend to be a lesbian to sell records") and Lady GaGa reign supreme, praise be for Little Boots' Stuck On Repeat. It's smart, no-nonsense pop from a woman who happens to be ace at what she does. I can't wait for her album.

I've been searching for a song for years from Murder In The Hamptons. It has the lyrics, "She'll never wait 'til morning/ Though she loves the sun and the rain shines." Help! Carly Hunt

Psycho by name

I see on Film4, they have the Korean film, Oldboy, on Friday night, so I'll be staying in to watch it. Who would've thought that not only can you do extensive dental work, but also take on bad guys and give them a beating with a claw hammer.

Still, I suppose eating a live octopus is a lot better than having to eat kimchi. Well, I'm going to get my claw hammer.

Princess Psycho

Given your name, that's not a statement I take lightly...

I've just witnessed a supposed Channel Four comedy, Plus One, which features a person from Blue. Yet they jail boy george. Vince McRaincoat

My favourite album of 2008 was Clouds With Silver by Lisa Redford. Gorgeous acoustic songs with hints of Americana, and beautifully sung. Produced by Martha Wainwright's husband Brad Albetta, it's had some great reviews. Here Alone is a real "Hairs on the neck" moment. Chris Angelis

Come the day

Janie Dust has been sniping at me this time. She says that I should get my brain in gear before I open my mouth. Well, how superior and what a cliché! I live in total and absolute confidence that one day I'll know what I'm talking about and what I'm doing. When that day comes, Janie would be wise to watch her back.

Grey Owl's Vagabond Cousin

Let us know when that day comes, will you?

How does Karen not know who Frankmusik is? Here's a big tip. Look at practically any "big in 2009" list. His songs so far have been brilliant, especially In Step. I've high hopes for his album. Also, I approve of Guj's idea. Maybe if we ignore The X Factor, it'll go away. Jude Green

I'm 39. Am I the only one who's so old who's off to see Lily Allen's tour in March, or are there others who'll be down with the kids? Robert SE

Go down to 30c with ariel

I'm Ariel in the school play, The Tempest. I think it's splendid that people was them at 30 degrees. Well, why not? However, after the first-night nerves, I will doubtlessly suffer in my tights, dancing on a stage. I fear my wash will need a 60-degree cycle.

lord sebastian flyte

I think One Winged Angel and Fruit Bat Femme would love to wash your smalls either way, flyte.

I bet Travis fans all said "Who?" when it was announced back in the day that an unknown band called Keane would be the support on their arena tour. Give Frankmusik a chance. He could be the next big thing. Indiegirl

iggy pop only became an icon through Trainspotting. Before that, he was a singer in a poor band, before they met david bowie. Name a chart hit that The Stooges had before Trainspotting. It can't be done. Tony Tudor

Mind over mind

"My Dyson has got a mind of its own," complained Uncle Robert. Which got me thinking (as events often do), what if his mind had a mind of its own? My mind would be all like "Jeremy Kyle," but his mind would be all like "Trisha". As it happens, Uncle Robert's mind HAS got a mind of its own. It tells him to burn things, apparently.

Klim Detaropave

Trisha- hands down, surely.

iggy pop sold out years ago. He's been doing adverts for various scumbag companies for years now. As for him needing the money, pride comes before a dollar. Danny Kemblin

My tip for 2009 is Jesse Baylin. Her music is so beautiful and joyous. She's a big hit on the Hotel Café songwriter tours, and it's time she had some recognition outside the US. Also, I loved In Tears by Robots In Disguise. I'm not usually a fan. Young Gregg

Olden days

Donny's Angel Ah, it's really nice to have all the tinny boppers here in the Zine. Oh boy, I feel really old now (sigh).

*Double sigh*You're not the only one.

Zephyr Hey, people; age is a state of mind. Thought everyone knew that. I'm gonna be 32 next week on October 9. Hope you all wish me Happy Birthday.

And that's an end to the age debate. I have my own imaginings of you all in my mind. I don't want the mystery blown.

evil DeLorean

So it turns out I am only evil when I get drunk and start thinking about gay giraffes. And WLW isn't the only one... Please, let's not go there. I didn't even remember sending that e-mail until an old friend asked if I was not evil. Blonde butterflies are the best kind. I'm not feeling too evil today. I'd say about seven on the evil scale.

DeLorean

Oh, come on; let's go there. Sounds like an intriguing place to visit...

It's great to see that Placebo are returning in June. Their last album Meds was their most mature album yet, and I have faith the new one will be just as good, even without Steve Hewitt on board. Shane Damien

Who else misses Steve Lamacq on Radio 1? The Evening Session had a great format, good bands in session, with superb documentaries. It was so much better than Colin Murray's inane drivel. Bradders

Countdown conundrum

Des is leaving Countdown- who cares, it's plop, you might think- but if you do, who do you think should be his replacement? Rumours are it's either eamonn holmes or Carol Vorderman. Personally, I think it should be a plank of wood- it's less dense, clean shaven and has more charisma.

Dalek

No point even taking a poll around these parts. Two words for you: Stephen and Fry.

Jimmy: Holy sh*t everything's Barry.
Steve-Dave: Everything's better!
Puffalump: Barrier
Steve-Dave: The Barryest it's ever been
Jimmy: I can't wait for more "Important Barry and changes"
Steve-Dave: Well there will be some Barry and changes coming soon, because we need more donations. It no longer just takes £10 a year to help Barry survive
Steve-Dave: It takes like... £13
Steve-Dave: Barry has to walk 5 metres to his car every day... just to go to work and earn money for DVDs and comic books
Steve-Dave: His eyesight is so bad... that he has to wear glasses. Stylish rimless glasses which cost €250
Steve-Dave: His living space is so cramped... that h had to put his workout bench in the garage meaning he doesn't really use it any more
Steve-Dave: But for just €13 a year... You can help Barry afford a DVD that he heard was good but has been out for a while so it's not as expensive as new DVDs
Steve-Dave: Please... Give generously... And help save this poor man's DVD shelf from not being completely full because it just looks weird when it's nearly full. I mean, when it's half full, that's fine. But when there's only a few gaps left... it just looks kinda sad.... y'know
Steve-Dave: Thank you
Rayanne Graff: It scares me when people refer to themselves in the third person.
Steve-Dave: It scares Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. too
Steve-Dave: Like my Grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII Esq. always said: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. gets scared when people refer to themselves in the third person, and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. promises to never do that"
Steve-Dave: And like my twin brother, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. (or Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. for short) says: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. doesn't like when people refer to themselves in the third person. You and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. must have gotten that from our grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq."
Rayanne Graff: You nerds crack me up.
Steve-Dave: Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. all try our best
Rayanne Graff: ... in the pants department.
