In Reference To Last Month

To MonkeyBoy (April 12), I'm sure WLW doesn't have favourites; i bet he loves us all.

In equal amounts, with no preferences or discrimination.

Squashed Strawberry, Hector's House

Like I say, things move quickly in these parts... which is why Strawberry's responded to a letter printed five weeks ago! I do love you, though.

vampire lover writes

I love the vampire genre and films like Near Dark, Interview With The vampire, Fright Night and The Wisdom of Crocodiles are among my favourites. Abel Ferarra's The Addiction is my all-time fave. Lili Taylor's performance is astonishing! Damien, Birmingham

Chris Weitz is directing the Twilight sequel? I guess he'll be removing the vampires then. Richard Barnett, Felixstowe

Vortex: That would be very unwise.

All Hail sir terence

Forget Stephen Fry, David Blaine or even the once mighty Chuck Norris.

The true Zine legend has to be the wogan. Everyone loves terry, from his dulcet Irish tones and dry Eurovision commentart, to his dodgy syrup.

He deserves to be Zine God 2007!

Fluffy The evil wogan

If you love him that much, why the h*ll have you changed your name to THAT?!

Can zombie be good?

I have just heard Rob zombie is making a new Hallowe'en film. Can you believe it? The first one was a disaster but House of 1000 Corpses and The devil's Rejects were great films so, who knows, maybe just maybe it could be good. Aaron Close, Yorks

Megan, I have seen Battle Royale 1 and 2 and enjoyed them both. Check out the Asian Extreme catalogue. Can I recommend Bullet In The Head? daddypoos, wigan

Ripping Up Labels

I see on the last page of these deserted pages that all Ziners are forbidden to say anything labeless.

I think labels are good on clothing, so why forbid us our price?

Methinks we need to up the labeless comments. Agreed?

Qwerty Keyboards Are Out of Stock?

Well, me old mucker Junior Minister seems to be doing his bit, judging by his last shocking letter...

Bananas for Tarzan?

Back to the subject of the new Tarzan film, who thinks David Boreanaz (Angel and Bones) would be good for the lead role? His wild dark looks would be perfect. At least he's not blond, blue eyed which wouldn't suit.

And why has there been no lizard in the Spider-Man movies? He was one of his main foes: John C McGinley (Dr Cox in Scrubs) would be great in the role, looks like the lizard in his human form. Any thoughts? Tom Lawrence, Dublin

Job Sharing

WLW, I've just had an idea...

Why don't you let us be guest WLWs?

I vote for One Winged Angel and Princess psycho.

Gothic Fairy

Thank you for the offer, but what would I do with myself all day? Well, I could write into "WLW", I suppose.

I have faith that Morrissey will continue with proper B-sides, the brilliant My Dearest Love came earlier this year. Maximo Park's return is bound to make for classic ones too, and Glasvegas are another one. Save this dying art. Adam Syntax

If led zeppelin are looking for a singer to replace robert plant on tour, they should go for Gotthard's Steve Lee. He's got an unbelievable vocal range, the best singer in years. Anthony Marsh

What's with all the fuss about has-beens like Blur and The Specials reforming? We should concentrate on great modern talent like Detroit Social Club, Glasvegas and The Raid. If we keep worshipping the past, we're only going to end up with more Britpop rip-offs like The Courteeners and Kaiser Chiefs. The Boogie Pirate

The Stupids have reformed. Time to dust my skateboard down, drink rootbeer and rip the curb (sic) up. Tony Grant

spiky stuy Hey, WLW, would just like to say that you will always have a special place in my heart.

You have a heart?

Kaiser Chiefs is my most disappointing album of 2008. Mark Ronson really should stick to putting horns over other people's songs and trying to make Bond themes with Amy Winehouse, because he's useless as a producer.

The quality control went completely, allowing dross like Addicted To Drugs on, and ever first single Never Miss A Beat was a let down, as it lacked the enthusiasm of I Predict A Riot and Ruby. Indiegirl

Gobbledegook

I have solved an age long mystery! Did the chicken come before the egg? Clearly not, the turkey came before the both, because it is superior.

On the other hand, I do enjoy the occasional bout of stupid arguments, so maybe I better keep this under my hat.

Haryuu No Hanekata

A bird-brained argument if ever there was.

In a year that's seen strong albums by Bauhaus, The Long Blondes and Death In June, my big disappointment was Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp. When I hear some of the praise it's had, I honestly wonder if I've been hearing the same album. I just don't get it. Steve Clark

Lady Sovereign's new single is amazing, and I love Frankmusik for bringing melodrama into pop. All I need now is comebacks by Atari Teenage Riot and Betty Boo. Kirkland Ciccone

Tony And Raoul

Tony and Raoul are vandalising the cathedral.

Tony: Oh no, here comes the bishop. Hide!
Raoul: Don't worry, he can't get us.
Tony: Why's that?
Raoul: Bishops can only move diagonally.

And so ends the very-obvious-and-probably-made-before-joke.

Vigilante Maelstrom

I've always been partial to pawn puns myself.

Jimmy: Holy sh*t everything's Barry.
Steve-Dave: Everything's better!
Puffalump: Barrier
Steve-Dave: The Barryest it's ever been
Jimmy: I can't wait for more "Important Barry and changes"
Steve-Dave: Well there will be some Barry and changes coming soon, because we need more donations. It no longer just takes £10 a year to help Barry survive
Steve-Dave: It takes like... £13
Steve-Dave: Barry has to walk 5 metres to his car every day... just to go to work and earn money for DVDs and comic books
Steve-Dave: His eyesight is so bad... that he has to wear glasses. Stylish rimless glasses which cost €250
Steve-Dave: His living space is so cramped... that h had to put his workout bench in the garage meaning he doesn't really use it any more
Steve-Dave: But for just €13 a year... You can help Barry afford a DVD that he heard was good but has been out for a while so it's not as expensive as new DVDs
Steve-Dave: Please... Give generously... And help save this poor man's DVD shelf from not being completely full because it just looks weird when it's nearly full. I mean, when it's half full, that's fine. But when there's only a few gaps left... it just looks kinda sad.... y'know
Steve-Dave: Thank you
Rayanne Graff: It scares me when people refer to themselves in the third person.
Steve-Dave: It scares Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. too
Steve-Dave: Like my Grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII Esq. always said: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. gets scared when people refer to themselves in the third person, and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. promises to never do that"
Steve-Dave: And like my twin brother, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. (or Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. for short) says: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. doesn't like when people refer to themselves in the third person. You and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. must have gotten that from our grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq."
Rayanne Graff: You nerds crack me up.
Steve-Dave: Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. all try our best
Rayanne Graff: ... in the pants department.
