Mick Hucknall replacing Rod Stewart in The Faces isn't as strange as it might first appear, as he's only made one decent album (Vagabond Heart) since 1972. He was the real deal for his first four albums, but then became a media tart and is now just a karaoke singer. Paul Rodgers would be more suited than he was for Queen.

As for Christmas songs, check out Cool Christmas, a '90s compilation that had Tom Waits, Bjork, The MGs... R Gibbard

Sharing The Anxiety

I feel the need to tell you about my new French teacher, Mr C. Everyone fancies him, but thankfully not me. I just like his shirt. But that's not the point. The point is, that as well as being the only male teacher in a girls' school AND being French he also decided to be really hip and cool and get his eyebrow pierced. But it got infected and now his eyebrow is all swollen and red and he can't put anything in it.

Cow In The Shed

Those crazy Frenchies- anything for attention.

Tim Vine

He's a comic genius, isn't he? You can keep your Peter Kay and The Office. I'll settle for Tim's masterful one lines, such as "I had a cat called Minton, he swallowed a shuttlecock. Bad Minton."

Why did they cancel WQhittle? Still, at least the repeats of The Sketch Show keep me sane. Hoorah for Tim!

Insane Jam Sow

I can't say I'm familiar with this particular 'comedy genius'.

Gimme An S... Gimme An... Oh, Nevermind

At last, another Salisbury bod! ** Sniff ** I never knew there were so many. I hail from a little hamlet that is Amesbury, only a stone's throw (well, a bus ride from the cathedral city).

Hey, any chance of a Salisbury get together?

A poor disguise?

I've just seen Spider-Man 2. It's a good movie, but apart from a few short scenes, Spider-Man was hardly in it. Most of the film is about Peter Parker and when Toby did put on thec suit, the producers kept finding reasons for him to take his mask off. Chris, Welwyn

Dear WLW

I have been reading Zine on and off for over 10 years, but this is my first collection.

I wonder, has anyone else been reading this long? And does this make me p142's most determined lurker?

Unvirtue

I reckon it makes you someone who needs to move where there are people!

Shocking

The shock ending I treasure is a disguised Sylvester Stallone's gun-toting cop in Nighthawks, turning to face Rutger Hauer's knife-wielding terrorist, completely catchinh him by surprise. Love it! Tony, Salisbury

My shock ending is an Italian Western, The Great Silence, because the bad guys win. The hero is shot and dies, then the evil Klaus Kinski and his men slaughter the townsfolk. John Wayne it ain't. Dodger, Colchester

Dave the Rave I have a great big combine harvester and I'll give you the key.

Lovely idea but not very practical for getting about in London.

Satan's Rubber Duck OK, so McDonald's are still doing their Summer McFlurrys, while Asda has Merry Christmas signs everywhere. What season is this?

We have seasons?

Nightmare on Christmas

Looking foor a horror Christmas? Take a look at Silent Night Deadly Night in which Santa goes for a slasher spree. Christmas Evil, a black comedy horror in which a man obsessed with being Santa, wants people to get the gifts they deserve including murder. Silent Night Bl*ody Night shot two years before Black Christmas. t rivers, sussex

For the past few years I've made sure I watch Joyeux Noel at Christmas and will continue to do so. Matthew, Sheffield

Intriguing opening

One line in a film that has always intrigued me is in the first few minutes of Duel. Whilst Dennis Weaver is ambling along, the DJ on the radio asks the phone-in guy what he does and he says "I play meat". Cosmic! Phillipe-Jerome, Yorkshire

Best comedies: In Bruges, Bad Santa, Anchorman, Full Monty, Life of Brian, Bad Taste, Borat, Kenny, The Moguls, Looking For Eric. Sniper, Sheffield

Reasons why fingerless gloves were invented

1 So students could make roll ups on the bus
2 So orchestras could play outside in Siberia
3 So people could have warm hands AND fingers!

Those are the ones I can think of, so it's definitely one of the three.

Number two has my vote.

Unmissable sci-fi

Cyborg She is unmissable for any sci-fi enthusiast. Similar, in essence, to Somewhere In Time but far superior in every aspect. Max, Kettering

Vortex- Does anyone remember the movie mini-series The Martian Chronicles starring the late rock hudson, based on the Ray Bradbury book following man's attempt to colonise Mars? Does anyone know when it will be released on region two DVD? Stu, Stockport

Ace

By the time this gets screened the odds are that Club 140 will be no longer exist and will be known as "Ace".

Well, keep the Zine as the Zine! We have already survived one change from Generator and we don't want another one. Power to the Ziners and all that gubbins!

Rayanne Graff: His name is George. Also, he started Spam.
Rayanne Graff: i spoke to him a couple of times and that was in October of 2009.
the doc: Wow, a proper old head
Rayanne Graff: Yeah, he was the 15th person to join.
satansrubberduck: I didn't directly start Spam. Also the proof of that long since disappeared.
Rayanne Graff: No, it didn't; the Spam spam spam you made in 2002 is on page 105 of the Spam board.
satansrubberduck: Oh. I looked for it years ago and couldn't find it. The colour tags are (thankfully) broken.
satansrubberduck: Odd to think it's been over a decade since I first got involved with 'Zine.
Claire: It's not odd to me since I've just had the exact same conversation with you...
