A little help from texters...

Jem in London, sincere thanks for helping me add Grumpy/ Grumpier Old Men to my collection from eBay, fantastic. Also, cheers to the texter who recommended the Classic Collection via Amazon, you saved me £20. Peter, Saxmundham

Best death scenes are Malone (sean connery) in The Untouchables and Alias (Willem Defoe in Platoon. Jimmy, Welwyn City

Newport

Newport, says Jarvis T Raven, is a place for lost souls etc. I have a reason to disagree, for the mighty Grant Nicholas hails from this particular location.

And indeed, Jon Lee.

Combustible Spoon

And there ain't no party like an S Club party... apparently.

Good warm-hearted movies

If you're down and want a good warm-hearted film watch Radio with Cuba Gooding Jr. Jo, Atherton

L, Bromley- Spock's affair with Uhura throws away the original's unique quality, which made the classic Spock such an appealing character. Ger, Omagh

How about death by film? I was thinking that about Alyson Hannigan's career after the terrible Date Movie. Baz, Sunderland

Winter

Am I the only person who likes winter? It's brilliant! You get to wear a really thick coat and a woolly hat and maybe even gloves. Then, when you're all prepared, you step outside and it's you against the rain. It gives me the opportunity to put my hood on without looking stupid.

The best thing though, is getting home from college putting the kettle on and warming my toes in my oven.

The Young Upstart

Mug of Bovril, cat on your lap, good movie, real fire, zzzzzzzzzzz...

Time to get romantic

Hollywood's most realistic love affair was The War of The Roses. Also, thank you, Herbie, just watched War Inc and loved it. James, York

Craig, Newcastle- I too love Lindsay Lohan. Her best film is Mean Girls, brilliant. Chris, Stockport

The Richard Donner cut of Superman was so much better. I'd love to see Superman IV remastered with all deleted scenes integrated in. Laura, Runcorn

Reasons Why Manchester Isn't All That Bad

1 There are no droughts in Manc.
2 It gave the world The Smiths, The Stone Roses, New Order, joy division and Take That.
3. Nowhere else in the country can have over 30 earthquakes a week, while being well away from any earthquake zone.
4. I like it there.

samurai hedgehog

And from Take That burst forth Robbie- not something to crow about really.

Celebrate Good Times, Come On...

WLW, I am sooooo happy! After torturing the townie culprit who changed the combination on my lockable Garfield biscuit tin, I have regained access to my rare cookie archive.

Draw me a picture and I'll give you an elvis shaped cookie! Any homebakig, I'm getting good.

I tried and failed, so did a cooker instead.

To qualify as Album of The Decade, a record must be seen to transcend its genre and exude brilliance in the same way as The Stone Roses, Screamadelica or Astral Weeks. Some suggestions so far by Voiders merely exude tedium and mediocrity.

The only albums from the '00s to match such exalted company are Arcade Fire's Funeral, MIA's Kala and Demon Days by Gorrilaz. All are 10/10 albums that are endlessly inventive. Dr Barratt

The Geek Who Shall Inherit The Earth Two of my letters were printed two days in a row- were the others that bad?

You might say that, I couldn't possibly comment.

Purple Punk Why bother throwing everything out? Enter it in the Turner Prize, after all, rubbish is pure art.

You've heard the new Westlife single?

Dimgirl (From The Mole Hole) I've got the new Manics Greatest Hits album. Do you all hate me now?

Pity is the word!

It feels eerie to have read the final batch of new PS album reviews, the end of an era. It's been a pleasure to read PS daily for years, and the whole team will be greatly missed. Aaron O'Neill

A friend with connections to the band is 100% confident that the rolling stones are headlining Glastonbury. If it happens, I want serious "You heard it here first" props. Mark Muldoon

Earls: From what I know of the headliners, it's unlikely, but...

My Many Wise Years

I've learnt a few things in my 16 years of life and they are-

* Never listen to anyone who says "Trust me, I know what I'm doing"
* There ysn't a man on the corner who eats children
* Sitting too close to the TV doesn't give you square eyes
* My friend's mum can't fly like she said

Just passing on my years of wisdom.

The Blue Banana

Thank you for that.

Thanks to PS, I've discovered so many great bands. You've been part of my morning routine for ages- get into work, wash the mugs, hopefully bump into the rather fragrant girl from secretariat, then to my desk to read PS to hopefully take my mind off the insane babble I invariably spew all over me. Crazylegs

The Decemberists were awesome in London on Wednesday. I hope they don't wait three years to come back. Dave Welling

Look Out!

I would just like to plug my new campaign- the abti-pigeon league.

Pigeons are creatures of evil. Look at their little red eyes for proof. I was attacked by one the other day and my bag was severely soiled.

Stop the pigeons!

Ammopogo

But without pigeons, Trafalgar Square would just be... well, clean.

I was shocked to see The Fratellis' second album Here We Stand being sold in Poundland. This is a band who, not so long ago, were headlining festivals. It says so much about the throwaway culture of the public, as so many second albums flop because what's cool today isn't cool tomorrow. It's sad, in both senses. Wide Awake Walrus

Rediscovering bands? I've got into The Frank And The Walters again after they came up on my iPod shuffle. TaDa

My Half Term

As you would expect with holiday camps, there was a traditional kids' talent show. Highlights were:

1 at kids jumping up and down to that annoying whistle song
2 Kid wearing Scream mask doing Michael Jackson (complete with groin grope)
3 Kid with trombone/ trumpet (not good enough for me to remember)
4 Girl who started crying so couldn't sing her song

It was much better than Popstars!

The Way And The Light

I hear ITV1 programme makers rushing to patent theidea as we speak.

Rayanne Graff: His name is George. Also, he started Spam.
Rayanne Graff: i spoke to him a couple of times and that was in October of 2009.
the doc: Wow, a proper old head
Rayanne Graff: Yeah, he was the 15th person to join.
satansrubberduck: I didn't directly start Spam. Also the proof of that long since disappeared.
Rayanne Graff: No, it didn't; the Spam spam spam you made in 2002 is on page 105 of the Spam board.
satansrubberduck: Oh. I looked for it years ago and couldn't find it. The colour tags are (thankfully) broken.
satansrubberduck: Odd to think it's been over a decade since I first got involved with 'Zine.
Claire: It's not odd to me since I've just had the exact same conversation with you...
I Cunt Spell: YOU'RE ALL OLD
I Cunt Spell: SO VERY VERY OLD
Captain Stupendo: SRD made an appearence holy moly haven't seen him on here for years
Maeby: JIM!
the doc: Wow, event Starws isn't here tonight
the doc: Straws ^
the doc: *whistles*
the doc: Ah well, off I go as well then
Rayanne Graff: Sorry, Stu; i was busy tidying things. xx
