Your views on the smaller Planet Sound

It's sad to hear Planet Sound is downsizing, especiallly the singles reviews. I've found so many great songs through them. Will it affect the yearly Top 50 singles/ albums countdown with Earls' descriptions? Hope not. Paul Thomas

Despite Earls' valiant efforts,Planet Sound will be worse after this, owing to the short-sightedness of Teletext bosses.

Yes, we'll still get the 9/10 reviews of obscure acts and demos, but that's not the point. There's a vast amount of good, potentially life-changing artists out there who won't get the exposure they deserve. It was heart-breaking to see Earls make the best of it, to cover up for his bosses' evident idiocy. Pierre Robert

And it came to pass that I decided I wanted to be cool and have my own band. So, I need vocals, lead guitars and bass. Fear not, for I have drums, backing vocals and the triangle covered, by none other than my good self. Oh, and I'll get Al on the kazoo, she's fab, you'll love her.

Your views on the smaller Planet Sound

I appreciated Earls' straightforward refusal to windowdress the Planet Sound changes as "streamlining". I've read Planet Sound six days a week for years and, in a sea of hype and bandwagon-jumping in the music media, Planet Sound has always been a beacon of honesty. It's introduced me to life-changing music. Garion

I'd rather there was more Planet Sound, not less. I've read it since the Blue Suede Views days, and it's always informative, especially for news. DJ Gordy
