Lady Stark - Winter Is Coming

Winter Is Coming

I've been giving some serious thought about what I want to do in the future, and I'm giving some serious thought to attempting to do a Masters Degree next year, after I finish my BA Hons. course.

I also think I want to do it somewhere else in the UK, I feel like I'm getting myself stuck in a pretty bad rut by staying where I am. Between putting too much hope on unreliable people and the fact that I rarely see my family these days it's getting far too easy to just withdraw from the world when I'm not studying. I don't like or want this and the voice in my head is saying that a fresh start would be a good thing for me.

All this depends on my grades over the next year, of course. According to my friend who got a First doing the course that I'm about to start I'd need at least a 2.1 to be able to do the Masters.

I guess what I'm asking is what do you think? Would you recommend any particular place/city/university? Am I over-reacting in thinking this way and should stay in Newcastle? I just want to get some other people's opinions. I'm talking about this with my non-vr friends as well. I value any and all opinions

I know a few people that rate Salfords uni pretty highly for music, however that's only against other local places so I have no idea how this stands against the rest of the country.

The above was no help whatsoever.

Don't want to p*ss on anyone's chips but Leeds College of Music ain't really all that from what I've heard. Nickloarse taught there for two or three years years and he reckons the place is going bust. They're taking in loads of overseas students just because the fees are higher and they're trying to get some extra revenue in, but as a result the standards are slipping cos they're giving to places to people who shouldn't really be there. He was glad when he left.
Whiskey, painkillers and speed will carry me there.....

Problem with RNCM is they are more classically orientated, not a bad thing for a vocalist I suppose, t just depends on the context you work in.

Rayanne Graff: His name is George. Also, he started Spam.
Rayanne Graff: i spoke to him a couple of times and that was in October of 2009.
the doc: Wow, a proper old head
Rayanne Graff: Yeah, he was the 15th person to join.
satansrubberduck: I didn't directly start Spam. Also the proof of that long since disappeared.
Rayanne Graff: No, it didn't; the Spam spam spam you made in 2002 is on page 105 of the Spam board.
satansrubberduck: Oh. I looked for it years ago and couldn't find it. The colour tags are (thankfully) broken.
satansrubberduck: Odd to think it's been over a decade since I first got involved with 'Zine.
Claire: It's not odd to me since I've just had the exact same conversation with you...
