Chris Kamara -

To my wife's eternal displeasure, the new season is swiftly approaching. The Confederations Cup slightly softens the lack of summer football, but nothing beats the start of a new campaign, whether your club is Premier League, Champonship or beyond.

How do you think your club will fair this term? Who are they going to let go and bring in?

Big talking points already in the transfer market, with first Kaka and now Ronaldo breaking the world record fee. Is anyone likely to go one step further?

Predictions for the new season are as welcome as ever, although I'll be witholding mine until I see who United bring in to replace Ronaldo and Tevez.

Let the banter commence!

Marc Vivien Foe's son reading a tribute to him at the Confederations Cup final just now nearly made me bawl His death is one of those things I'll never quite get over, you just don't expect that in football.

Anyway, this tournament has been pretty damn good, and while no substitute for the normal football season or indeed a World Cup or similar, its been a damn good summer-filler for me, some cracking games, I hope the final follows suit.
When you get here, the Welcome To This Town sign, it scares little kids with it's skulls and it's gore
When you leave here, the Get The Hell Out sign is well kept and pretty with floral decor

Definitely, I've enjoyed the Confed Cup. At half time I said I thought Brazil would come back and win it 3-2. It's 2-1 at the moment so we'll have to see.

I haven't any money on it though so it doesn't really matter. USA have looked fairly adept for a lot of this tourney so far. Didn't expect that.

I'll be interested to find out.

And 3-2 to Brazil I should start betting again.

Feel a bit sorry for Tim Howard really. He's done well in this tournament and his team have let him down in this second half. He wasn't brilliant at United but I was a fan of his since his Charity Shield debut.

No idea what's happening at Leeds United.

Beckford is transfer listed as he's only got 12 months left on his deal but there hasn't yet been a bid, Jonathan Douglas, Frazer Richardson and David Lucas have been released, and Fabian Delph is repeatedly rumoured to be on his way to a Premier League club for about £4m. Only signing so far has been Jason Crowe at right-back, a position Richardson played and Ben Parker looked good, if inconsistent in, towards the end of the season.

Simon Grayson has said that he wants to sign more players, and that he has replacements for Beckford and Delph in mind for if they do leave the club.

Personally, I'd reject the bids for both of them and see how the club is placed in January. If we look on for promotion, I reckon Beckford can be convinced to stay with a clause saying he can leave if we don't go up. Delph has only just signed a new deal about 7 months ago, so he's staying unless a stupid bid comes in.

The most interesting thing about this tournament was the South African player....

Kagisho Evidence Dikgacoi!

I'm down with that.

Kaka wins player of the tournament?!

What!

Bloody hell, I know I'm not Kaka's biggest fan at the best of times, but there's no way on Earth he was the best player in the Confederations Cup. Not a chance.

Personally, I'd've given it to Clint Dempsey.

I always used to think he was, shows how much I payed attention as a kid. Thought any famous footballer played for United.

Think its a decent signing myself, if he can stay fit and score more than 5 goals this season he's proven himself to be of more use than Tevez.

I can't decide what I think about him signing. I suppose at the end of the day he's on an average-ish wage and he cost nothing to sign. Worst case scenario is he's injured all season and it's like we never had him. Best case scenario is he rediscovers his goalscoring touch and proves to be a bargain from Fergy.

No one knows how he'll pan out but I'll sit back and trust Sir Alex, I guess. Slagging him off now he's signed isn't going to help anyone.

Jimmy: Holy sh*t everything's Barry.
Steve-Dave: Everything's better!
Puffalump: Barrier
Steve-Dave: The Barryest it's ever been
Jimmy: I can't wait for more "Important Barry and changes"
Steve-Dave: Well there will be some Barry and changes coming soon, because we need more donations. It no longer just takes £10 a year to help Barry survive
Steve-Dave: It takes like... £13
Steve-Dave: Barry has to walk 5 metres to his car every day... just to go to work and earn money for DVDs and comic books
Steve-Dave: His eyesight is so bad... that he has to wear glasses. Stylish rimless glasses which cost €250
Steve-Dave: His living space is so cramped... that h had to put his workout bench in the garage meaning he doesn't really use it any more
Steve-Dave: But for just €13 a year... You can help Barry afford a DVD that he heard was good but has been out for a while so it's not as expensive as new DVDs
Steve-Dave: Please... Give generously... And help save this poor man's DVD shelf from not being completely full because it just looks weird when it's nearly full. I mean, when it's half full, that's fine. But when there's only a few gaps left... it just looks kinda sad.... y'know
Steve-Dave: Thank you
Rayanne Graff: It scares me when people refer to themselves in the third person.
Steve-Dave: It scares Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. too
Steve-Dave: Like my Grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII Esq. always said: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. gets scared when people refer to themselves in the third person, and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq. promises to never do that"
Steve-Dave: And like my twin brother, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. (or Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. for short) says: "Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. doesn't like when people refer to themselves in the third person. You and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. must have gotten that from our grandfather, Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq."
Rayanne Graff: You nerds crack me up.
Steve-Dave: Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XII esq., Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV.5 esq. and Professor Barrington Cornelius Smashathing XIV esq. all try our best
Rayanne Graff: ... in the pants department.
