Carpet Remnant -

I like these albums:

4. Whatever People Say I Am... - Arctic Monkeys.
7. Funeral - Arcade Fire.
9. Original Pirate Material - The Streets.
10. In Rainbows - Radiohead.
12. Relationship Of Command - At The Drive-In.
14. Kid A - Radiohead.
15. Songs For The Deaf - Queens Of The Stone Age.
16. A Grand Don't Come For Free - The Streets.
18. Elephant - White Stripes.
19. White Blood Cells - White Stripes.
22. The Blueprint - Jay-Z.
28. American IV - Johnny Cash.
29. Rings Around The World - Super Furry Animals.
30. Asleep In The Back - Elbow.
40. Gold - Ryan Adams.
49. Absolution - Muse.

Surprised to see Ryan Adams, SFA and The Streets getting recognition. Good to see Radiohead in their, fairly high. That's not the order I'd put those albums in at all though and they left weezer, who released their best album in the noughties, off the list. Overall though, not entirely atrocious.

Terribly predictable. Not quite sure why the 2nd Arcade Fire album is in their, because it was dogsh*t.

River Phoenix

(i don't think any list can be true and right, it's just someone's opinion. Glad Super Furry Animals are on there, though.

i would have put Send Away The Tigers by Manic Street Preachers and Rather Ripped by Sonic Youth on.)

Dr. Harold Shipman - Old people CLEARLY need more painkillers.

Old people CLEARLY need more painkillers.

I only own one of those albums, and there's no others on there I've ever wanted to own.

Why no The Music as well? Terrible oversight.

Which one?

The lack of The Music is probably my favourite thing about the list

Oh of course. It IS an exceptional album.

That's an odd list, in a way it's exactly what I'd expect of the NME but it's also kind of not.

I agree with Dan, that list is lame.

Am I being blind, or have they missed out the first Kings of Leon album? Also, I know these things are subjective, but how the hell you can have a fifty albums of the decade list without The Greatest by Cat Power is an absolute f*cking mystery.

Also, I reckon the first Iron and Wine album should be there. And how the hell have they got the worst Shins album in the top twenty?!
Whiskey, painkillers and speed will carry me there.....

Didn't pretty much everywhere have Chutes Too Narrow as one of their best albums of 2003 when it came out?

Edit - Absolution in there ahead of Origin of Symmetry? Die in a fire.

Sure did.

Don't wanna bang on too much about stuff that's not there cos you wouldn't expect a truly diverse and interesting list from a sh*trag like NME, but for the love of God you'd think they'd find room for Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots........

Nice to see the Delgados, Wilco and Grandaddy in there, but the Rapture? What the f*ck were they thinking?!
Whiskey, painkillers and speed will carry me there.....

Mancomb Seepgood - Grog me.

Grog me.

Top 20, in reverse order innit:

Reflection Eternal (Taleb Kweli and Hi-Tek) - Train of Thought
Twilight Sad - Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
The Radioheads - Kid A
New Pornos - Twin Cinema
The Strokes - Is This It?
The National - Boxer
GYBE! - Lift Yr Skinny Fists
Hope of the States - Lost Riots
Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
Avalanches - Since I Left You
Libs - Up The Brackets
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
The Wrens - The Meadowlands (most overlooked album of the decade too going by these lists from your major music publications)
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Delgados - Great Eastern
Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
Modest Mouse - Moon and Antarctica
The National - Alligator (natch)

NME list is perfect for its audience. Can't imagine many would have predicted anything drastically different, and a bit pointless complaining considering most of those who are probably don't read NME.

It is a really NMEy list, but it is really wrong, still, I think.

I think "The Lost Riots" by HOTS, "Hazards of Love" by The Decemberists, "Origin of Symmetry" by Muse are albums of the decade too.
Also, Sigor Ros too.

It is really weird it is not any metal and rappy albums at-all. - System Of A Down and Rammstein are both really important, I think, and also lots of other rappers are lots more important than Jay-Z. I am not sure- I do not know so much about metal and rap at-all.
Also, it is weird "In Rainbows" is higher than "Kid A". - Kid A is lots more important and influential, I think, and also In Rainbows would not exist if Kid A did not exist first (please does it make sense at-all?).

It is really cool Super Furry Animals and Grandaddy are in the list too.

It hurts too much not to try.

Albi The Racist Dragon -

Just to point out that the list was done via votes from a large panel of musicians, not just NME.

My top few would be

Radiohead - Kid A
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
Hope Of The States - The Lost Riots
Libertines - Up The Bracket

Steve-Dave: Better the devil you know, though. How many of the sensible people would ever vote for Romney?
Walt Flanagan: They're going to be non-votes, not votes for Barack.
Steve-Dave: I doubt it. I'd say that with some of the stuff Romney will come out, people could vote Barack just to prevent Romney getting in.
Walt Flanagan: Well, he's so clearly a terrible human being.
Walt Flanagan: He's going to gaff his way out of the White House, even as the President is hated from all the sides of the spectrum that aren't starry eyed.
Walt Flanagan: The GOP has gone too far towards the Stupid Bigot side of things, it may take years to get back.
Walt Flanagan: I just think people who say that Obama would have to f*ck a white woman on television to not get elected are missing the danger.
Steve-Dave: Oh I think Romney will still give Obama a run for his money. Romney flip-flops a lot. Could appeal to a wide enough base overall to run it close
oatibix: Something's happened here.
Steve-Dave: This is what happens when you leave Colin.
Steve-Dave: And I don't mean "This is what happens when you leave, Colin", I mean this is what happens when you leave Colin. I left Colin and became all sensible and sh*t
Steve-Dave: I'm an equivocating motherf*cker
Rayanne Graff: Yeah, you're sh*t. i'm not sure about sensible, though.
Jimmy: Holy sh*t everything's Barry.
Steve-Dave: Everything's better!
Puffalump: Barrier
Steve-Dave: The Barryest it's ever been
Jimmy: I can't wait for more "Important Barry and changes"
Steve-Dave: Well there will be some Barry and changes coming soon, because we need more donations. It no longer just takes £10 a year to help Barry survive
Steve-Dave: It takes like... £13
