the doc - What's a little sin to see us through?

What's a little sin to see us through?

.............cos I can't be arsed to find the old one.  I'll start with this:

Drink up baby, stay up all night
With the things you could do
You won't but you might
The potential you'll be that you'll never see
The promises you'll only make
Drink up with me now
And forget all about the pressure of days
Do what I say and I'll make you okay
And drive them away
The images stuck in your head

The people you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still

Drink up baby, look at the stars
I'll kiss you again between the bars
Where I'm seeing you there with your hands in the air
Waiting to finally be caught
Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
Keep you apart, deep in my heart
Separate from the rest, where I like you the best
And keep the things you forgot

The people you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still

I'll probably have most of the songs off that album on here by the time I'm done
Whiskey, painkillers and speed will carry me there.....

klinsmann18 - Matt.

Matt.

The opening few lines of the the first song, first single and title track off Jason Lytle 's new album - Yours Truly The Commuter - Perfect return

"Last thing I heard I was left for dead,
Well I could give two sh*ts about what they said,
I may be limping....But I'm coming home"

When you get here, the Welcome To This Town sign, it scares little kids with it's skulls and it's gore
When you leave here, the Get The Hell Out sign is well kept and pretty with floral decor

John Cage Bubblegum -

On a bit of a Half Man Half Biscuit kick at the minute. Try these lyrics for size:

Quote:
Precious McKenzie, boy I remember you well
With a gob full of tapioca I would sit and I’d watch you excel
Those legendary rivulets would trickle on down to your chin
But I always wondered what you did when you packed it all in

And what are you doing today?
And what have you done with the money?
And how much did Singleton pay?
Do you think you were misunderstood?
I do.

Down at Stoke Mandeville I bumped into Mr IQ
I said “Hey albino, this is not 1972
Stub out your King Edward and get that small boy off your knee
And melt down your fingerware and get yourself off my TV”

Jim could you fix it for me
To come down and suck out your kidneys?
I’ve got this young brother, you see
Who wants to stay alive to watch Bilko

When I’m pining for a cigarette
I think of all the free ones that I’d get
If I killed myself and came back as a beagle

I left my heart in Papworth General

Grog me.

From You Okay Honey?, one of the songs on the soundtrack of Rent.

"Let's get a band-aid for your knee
I'll change, there's a "Life Support" meeting at nine-thirty
Yes - this body provides a comfortable home
For the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome"

A short delay,
The parrot blues
Little voices mimic you
It's not so hard to make that sound

So watch your back,
The Ides of March
Cut your hair like Joan of Arc
Disguise your will
They'll find you out

And when they do...
Look out

There's money lenders inside the temple
That circus tiger's gonna break your heart
Something so wild turned into paper
If I loved you, well that's my fault

A b*tch in heat,
The alpha male
Not something she'd ever tell
Except when she got deathly high

And out it came,
Like summer rain
Washed the cars and everything
Felt clean for just a little while

A telethon...
We drove down

The starving children they ain't got no mother
There's pink flamingos living in the mall
I'd give a fortune to your infomercial
If somebody would just take my call
Take my call
Take my call

Hello,
Patterns in my mind now moving slow
Sorrow all across the surface roads
Smoothing out the edges of the stone
The lights are out, where'd everybody go?
Alone

Erase yourself and you'll be free
Mendula destroyed by the sea
All we are is colored sand

So pay to ride the ferris wheel
Smile, all that you can feel
Is gratitude for what has been

Cause it did not...
Happen

There's money lenders inside the temple
That circus tiger's gonna break my heart
Something so wild turned into paper
If you loved me, then that's your fault

There's money lenders inside the temple
This crystal city's gonna fall apart
When all their power turns into vapor
If I miss you well that's my fault
That's my fault
That's my fault

That's off Conor Oberst's solo album. Love it
Whiskey, painkillers and speed will carry me there.....

John Cage Bubblegum -

Half Man Half Biscuit pretty much win this thread.

Dead Men Don't Need Season Tickets

Quote:
Telephone call
Telling me
My old friend Graham had died
I took a ride
Down to where I
Could be of assistance

I said to his wife
Don’t give in
To grieving cliche and turn
This side of the room
Into a shrine
It just doesn’t work

My arm round her shoulder
Gently I told her
Dead men don’t need season tickets

Now that he’s gone
You’re gonna need
A helping hand with the lawn
Various chores
Not least of all
Those funeral arrangements

If I were you
I’d get myself
Away from all that relates
Week in the lakes
Reasonable rates
Early September

Now I’m no hotelier
Just thought I’d tell yer
Dead men don’t need season tickets

Maybe I’m forward
Maybe I’m morbid
Dead men don’t need season tickets

Dead men don’t need season tickets
In a mortuary
In the mortuary
In the mortuary
In the mortuary

the doc - What's a little sin to see us through?

What's a little sin to see us through?

Your vision's been blessed if I'm still fully dressed
but before you leave me, here's one last request -
no I don't care and no I don't mind
if you don't hear a word from this broke heart of mine,
but can I borrow your face just to unload my mind?

Now I know I'm pathetic, I'm the sage of absurd
and I won't violate you with touch but with words
Heard there's no need to ask, shut your mouth, raise a glass
but the youth that you drink to's already the past
and the boy on your arm girl, you know he won't last.

My Madonna's undressing, her robes are all torn
and I swear that she's calling my name
but for all her caresses my senses are worn
and sweet lady just don't taste the same.

I'll drink just to drive - if my love don't arrive
I don't want to survive, I don't want to survive
and all that I know is I smile just for show
and nobody's listening but everyone knows
so just sit back and watch while my memory corrodes.

My Madonna's undressing, her robes are all torn
and I swear that she's calling my name
but for all her caresses my senses are worn
and sweet lady just don't taste the same.

I curse my own comfort for the deaf and the blind
cos it's dark as a dungeon way down in my mind
and I wake on the floor with my country at war
and I wish I could care but my liver's too sore
and if liquor's a lover then I am a wh*re,
if liquor's a lover then I am a wh*re.

My Madonna's undressing, her robes are all torn
and I swear that she's calling my name
but for all her caresses my senses are worn
and sweet lady just don't taste the same.

Bit close to the bone sometimes, that one. It's My Madonna by Two Gallants, if anyone's interested
Whiskey, painkillers and speed will carry me there.....

Little Blue Fox. - Hope is important.

Hope is important.

"Won't Want For Love" by The Decmeberists.
- Gentle leaves, gentle leaves
Please array a path for me
The woods are blowing thick and fast around

Columbine, Columbine
Please alert this love of mine
Let him know his Margaret comes along

And all this stirring inside my belly
Won't quell my want for love
And I may swoon from all this swaying
But I won't want for love

Mistlethrush, Mistlethrush
Lay me down in the underbrush
My naked feet grow weary with the dusk

Willow Boughs, Willow Boughs,
Make a bed to lay me down
Let your branches bow to cradle us

And all this stirring inside my belly
Won't quell my want for love
And I may swoon from all this swaying
But I won't want for love

Oh, my own true love
Oh, my own true love
Can you hear me, love?
Can you hear me, love?

And all this stirring inside my belly
Won't quell my want for love
And I may swoon from all this swaying
But I won't want for love

Won't want for love...
Won't want for love...
Won't want for love...

"There There" by Radiohead.
- In pitch dark,
I go walking in your landscape.

"Faster" by Manic Street Preachers.
- I am an architect, they call me a butcher
I am a pioneer, they call me primitive
I am purity, they call me perverted
Holding you but I only miss these things when they leave

I am idiot drug hive, the virgin, the tattered and the torn
Life is for the cold made warm and they are just lizards
Self-disgust is self-obsession honey and I do as I please
A morality obedient, only to the cleansed repented

I am stronger than mensa, miller and mailer
I spat out plath and pinter
I am all the things that you regret
A truth that washes that learnt how to spell

The first time you see yourself naked you cry
Soft skin now acne, foul breath, so broken
He loves me truly this mute solitude I'm draining
I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing

Sleep can't hide the thoughts splitting through my mind
Shadows aren't clean, false mirrors too many people awake
If you stand up like a nail then you will be knocked down
I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else

I am stronger than mensa, miller and mailer
I spat out plath and pinter
I am all the things that you regret
A truth that washes that learnt how to spell, learnt to spell

So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything
So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything
So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything
So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything

"Mastermind" by The Divine Comedy.
- Every pupil in the classroom
Will answer the same if you ask them
Every mouth shout the message out as one
Every girl weeps like the willow
Every boy cries into his pillow
Every tear disappears in the morning sun

"Tonight We Fly" by The Divine Comedy.
- Tonight We Fly
Over the houses
The streets and the trees
Over the dogs down below
They'll bark at our shadows
As we float by on the breeze

Tonight we fly
Over the chimney tops
Skylights and slates -
Looking into all your lives
And wondering why
Happiness is so hard to find

Over the doctor, over the soldier
Over the farmer, over the poacher
Over the preacher, over the gambler
Over the teacher, over the rambler
Over the lawyer, over the dancer
Over the voyeur, over the builder and the destroyer,
Over the hills and far away

Tonight we fly
Over the mountains
The beach and the sea
Over the friends that we've known
And those that we now know
And those who we've yet to meet

And when we die
Oh, will we be
That disappointed
Or sad
If heaven doesn't exist
What will we have missed
This life is the best we've ever had

"Enemies/Friends" By Hope of the States.
- Lately in the hospitals
The halfway homes and choking jails
There's people on the mend again
With hope to carry on again
It makes me feel that something's right
For everyone who tries to fight
No politics or dirty tricks
All standing up and shouting out
All the money in the world won't save you
We're coming home
All the prisons that you build won't hold us
Just let us go

Then I found a broken heart
With dusty wheezing thing won't start
I'll fix it up and watch it grow
And send it to a happy home
It don't take much to raise a smile
To push yourself the extra mile
I'll stand with you when things go wrong
And lie and say it's not too long

All the money in the world won't save you
We're coming home
All the prisons that you build won't hold us
Just let us go

Come on people
Keep your friends close
Your enemies won't matter in the end
Come on people
Keep your friends close
Your enemies won't matter in the end
In the end
In the end.

It hurts too much not to try.
I will see you in another life when we are both cats.

Change - Blind Melon

I dont feel the suns comin out today
Its staying in, its gonna find another way.
As I sit here in this misery, I dont
Think Ill ever see the sun from here.

And oh as I fade away,
Theyll all look at me and say, and theyll say,
Hey look at him! Ill never live that way.
But thats okay

Theyre just afraid to change.

When you feel your life aint worth living
Youve got to stand up and
Take a look around you then a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreaming boy, cause when you stop dreamin its time to die.
And as we all play parts of tomorrow,
Some ways will work and other ways well play.

But I know we all cant stay here forever,
So I want to write my words on the face of today.
And then theyll paint it

And oh as I fade away,
Theyll all look at me and theyll say,
Hey look at him and where he is these days.
When life is hard, you have to change.
I like Jesus but he loves me so it's awkward.

Hate the Police by the D*cks

Mommy, mommy, mommy
Look at your son
You might have loved me
But now I got a gun
You better stay out of my way
I think I've had a bad day
I've had a bad day
I've had a bad day

Daddy, daddy, daddy
Proud of your son
Got himself a good job
Killing niggers and Mexicans
I'll tell you one thing, it's true
You can't find justice, it'll find you
It'll find you
It'll find you

People tell policemen
They've met their match
Down in them desert sands
The D*cks won't catch
The D*cks hate policemen, yes, it's true
You can't find justice, it'll find you
It'll find you
It'll find you
It'll find you

Mommy, mommy
Look at your son

You better stay out of my way

You're everybody's second home
Always trying to get me alone
An easy way to lose it all
Always there when all else fails
Over by the west side rails

But I don't really need that now
I never really did anyhow
I only really needed alcohol
Something that'll treat me okay
And wouldn't say the things you'd say

Please turn out the light
I get a sick confusion headache trying to figure out who's right

Dreaming on the silver strand
Waking up to plainclothes man
You little b*st*rd, little boy in blue
Someone's gonna get to you
And f*ck up everything you do

He's so unhappy inside
He's serious with everyone
And he thinks he'll win you with his angry kiss
Acting like he has no needs
Wanting you to watch him bleed

Made for each other bet you pay me any mind
Just goes to show my continual decline
They say that I'll recover my love of her once in a while
But I don't know
I don't think so...

There's something that I'll tell you now
Now that no one else is around
The sort of lesson that I learned from you
Not quite the way you planned
But I know you'll understand

Someone takes a photograph
A picture while their sweetheart laughs
A perfect moment in a flash of light
Counting back from 3 to 1
That's exactly what you've done

And I'm so unsurprised
I remember, I remember why I dream in black & white

Goes to show my continual decline
They say that I'll recover my love of her once in a while
But I don't know
I don't think so
I don't think so...

Always had a roof above me
always paid the rent
I never set foor inside a tent
I can't build a fire to save my life
I lied about being the outdoor type.

I've never slept out underneath the stars
the closest that I came to that
was one time my car
broke down for an hour
in the suburbs at night
I lied about being the outdoor type

Too scared to let you know
you knew what you were looking for
I lied until I fit the bill
God bless the great indoors
I lied about being the outdoor type
never owned a sleeping bag
let alone a mountain bike.

I can't go away with you
on a rock-climbing weeked
what if something's on TV
and it's never shown again?
Just as well I'm not invited
I'm afraid of heights
I lied about being the outdoor type

Never learned to swim
can't grow a beard or even fight
I lied about being the outdoor type

the doc - What's a little sin to see us through?

What's a little sin to see us through?

Please remember me, happily
By the rosebush laughing
With bruises on my chin, the time when
We counted every black car passing

Your house beneath the hill and up until
Someone caught us in the kitchen
With maps, a mountain range, a piggy bank
A vision too removed to mention

But please remember me, fondly
I heard from someone you're still pretty
And then they went on to say that the Pearly Gates
Had some eloquent graffiti

Like 'We'll meet again' and 'F*ck the man'
And 'Tell my mother not to worry'
And angels with their great handshakes
But always done in such a hurry

And please remember me, at Halloween
Making fools of all the neighbors
Our faces painted white, by midnight
We'd forgotten one another

And when the morning came I was ashamed
Only now it seems so silly
That season left the world and then returned
And now you're lit up by the city

So please remember me, mistakenly
In the window of the tallest tower
Call, then pass us by but much too high
To see the empty road at happy hour

Gleam and resonate just like the gates
Around the Holy Kingdom
With words like, 'Lost and found' and 'Don't look down'
And 'Someone save temptation'

And please remember me as in the dream
We had as rug burned babies
Among the fallen trees and fast asleep
Beside the lions and the ladies

That called you what you like and even might
Give a gift for your behavior
A fleeting chance to see a trapeze
Swinger high as any savior

But please remember me, my misery
And how it lost me all I wanted
Those dogs that love the rain and chasing trains
The colored birds above there running

In circles round the well and where it spells
On the wall behind St. Peter
So bright on cinder gray in spray paint
'Who the hell can see forever?'

And please remember me, seldomly
In the car behind the carnival
My hand between your knees, you turn from me
And said the trapeze act was wonderful

But never meant to last, the clowns that passed
Saw me just come up with anger
When it filled with circus dogs, the parking lot
Had an element of danger

So please remember me, finally
And all my uphill clawing
My dear, but if I make the Pearly Gates
I'll do my best to make a drawing

Of God and Lucifer, a boy and girl
An angel kissin' on a sinner
A monkey and a man, a marching band
All around the frightened trapeze swinger
Whiskey, painkillers and speed will carry me there.....
