I'm not a fan of the Simpsons and I've never really cared for Futurama, either.

Futurama is passably funny once in a while, sometimes seemingly by chance, but it is mostly quite badly written. It should certainly not be fawned over in the way that far too many people seem to.

It does have some fantastic characters though, Richard Nixon and Professor Zoidberg ALWAYS make me laugh.

also, the new futurama that's been made has led people to constantly text me saying stuff like 'I'm watching new futurama ' and my only response is to say 'I don't really like futurama, why are you telling me?'

It was funny in parts, but not enough to make me want to sit and watch full episodes. Saw bits of the new show a couple days ago, doesn't seem that great either.

Futurama is good, but it's best episodes generally can't beat the 'pretty good' episodes of The Simpsons in its heyday. Except for the episode Jurassic Bark. A brilliant episode by any account

The problem with Futurama is a lot of its jokes are hidden in nerdery and require a very close viewing of the show to notice. Not a bad thing for the nerds, but bad for everyone else. Sadly, I also think the majority of them tend to be a tad cleverer and more subtle than the fair the show makes use of normally, I suspect this is where some of the fawning comes from.

The world isn't run by weapons anymore, or energy, or money. It's run by little rabbits and zeroes, little bits of data. It's all just electrons.

I think that's true to a degree but I get a lot of the more nerdy humour and the show still leaves me cold.
It relies far too heavily on complicated storylines and forgets the jokes, a problem also evident in later seasons off the simpsons.

I adore Futurama, I think it's brilliant and some of the episodes are actually genuinaly touching and beautiful. Plus it has Zapp Brannigan in it, that's enough.
I hope some day, for some reason, David Duchovny is investigated by the FBI. Because that would make a great story.

Little Blue Fox. - Hope is important.

Hope is important.

My bestest episodes are Homer goes to Clown College and Homer goes to regular college, and also the Softball episode and Lisa loves Nelson (i am sorry i do not know all the episdoe titles at-all).
I do not like all the really new episodes so much, I think - lots of old episodes were really sweet and emotional, but lots of new episodes are pretty spiteful and mean, I think. I am not sure. Also, nearly all the characters are really exaggerated and simplified - all the characters are stereotypes, I think, but everyone used to be lots deeper and complicated too. - Lots of characters are all their characteristics now. Oh gosh - please does it make sense at-all?

It hurts too much not to try.
I will see you in another life when we are both cats.

This morning I woke up thinking how great the episode is where Bart gatecrashes Quimby's nephew's party and then goes to court as a witness to the "chowdah!" "chauderrr" incident.

Also, Mr. Plow.

I watched Lemon of Troy last night on DVD when I got home from work. It's rare I laughed out loud at the Simpsons these days, because I've seen them all so many times, but I cracked up when Shelbyville Homer ate the lemon in victory.

Also, loads of great quotes, and a callback to season one with Flanderseses RV.

Oh, it's no use I'm never gonna find that tree, this whole raid was a useless as that yellow lemon shaped rock over there. Wait a minute, there's a lemon behind that rock, the tree!

No don't put bugs in my mouth! ...is what he would say

Steve-Dave: Better the devil you know, though. How many of the sensible people would ever vote for Romney?
Walt Flanagan: They're going to be non-votes, not votes for Barack.
Steve-Dave: I doubt it. I'd say that with some of the stuff Romney will come out, people could vote Barack just to prevent Romney getting in.
Walt Flanagan: Well, he's so clearly a terrible human being.
Walt Flanagan: He's going to gaff his way out of the White House, even as the President is hated from all the sides of the spectrum that aren't starry eyed.
Walt Flanagan: The GOP has gone too far towards the Stupid Bigot side of things, it may take years to get back.
Walt Flanagan: I just think people who say that Obama would have to f*ck a white woman on television to not get elected are missing the danger.
Steve-Dave: Oh I think Romney will still give Obama a run for his money. Romney flip-flops a lot. Could appeal to a wide enough base overall to run it close
oatibix: Something's happened here.
Steve-Dave: This is what happens when you leave Colin.
Steve-Dave: And I don't mean "This is what happens when you leave, Colin", I mean this is what happens when you leave Colin. I left Colin and became all sensible and sh*t
Steve-Dave: I'm an equivocating motherf*cker
Rayanne Graff: Yeah, you're sh*t. i'm not sure about sensible, though.
Jimmy: Holy sh*t everything's Barry.
Steve-Dave: Everything's better!
Puffalump: Barrier
Steve-Dave: The Barryest it's ever been
Jimmy: I can't wait for more "Important Barry and changes"
Steve-Dave: Well there will be some Barry and changes coming soon, because we need more donations. It no longer just takes £10 a year to help Barry survive
Steve-Dave: It takes like... £13
