to other devices on the network...

Animal

To belatedly answer your question - yes. thats pretty much how it works, however, the device you connect to the machine sharing its network connection whilebeing on the same network will, depending on how you set it up, probably be on a seperate subnet to the rest of the network, so will have a hard time communicating

I think I mean when the internet is shared from ethernet by airport, the other devices using that internet are connected, and I was wondering if the access point computer was on that network too.

Griff

3rd Apr 2009 at 6:50 am

I think so, assuming you mean what I think you mean...

Animal

3rd Apr 2009 at 12:54 am

Ah. When internet sharing, are you "connected" to that network too?

Griff

3rd Apr 2009 at 12:07 am

col its using (This is my current theory about why Bonjour keeps f*cking up at my flat too...)

Animal

3rd Apr 2009 at 12:05 am

This could be the problem.. I've noticed network sharing can sometimes cause malformed data packets.. Which may explain why you were unable to connect - I think the remote app will use Bonjour/Appletalk or simiarl to talk to iTunes, if the packets aren't being transmitted correctly this could b*gger up which ever proto

Had wired at first year accom and here, second accom had a wireless network I set up myself with the router already there. Here and at home I turn internet sharing on to get the psp/ds/wii/internet radio online.

Albert Johanneson

2nd Apr 2009 at 10:38 pm

I suspect, from mucking around with network sharing donkeys ago that this may be part of the problem.

Animal

2nd Apr 2009 at 10:38 pm

Do you not have a wireless network in your place, Griff?

Animal

2nd Apr 2009 at 10:38 pm

Cheers Dan, whats the plan for the night?

Animal

2nd Apr 2009 at 10:37 pm

Did loads and loads of fiddling with ipod, itunes and airport card, ended up sending wireless out as an AP, and my iTunes DJ came up on Remote. Confusing.

Griff

uninstall it and re-install, thats the usual favourite fix

Animal

2nd Apr 2009 at 9:48 pm

It's absolutely not working now. I thought the update would fix it, but it's done b*gger all. Don't know why it suddenly stopped working yesterday

Griff

2nd Apr 2009 at 9:34 pm

It can be a bit funny, ive noticed.

Ian's birthday tomorrow!

Griff

2nd Apr 2009 at 9:11 pm

Yeah. I just updated the remote, because it came up. Then even though I made a WLAN, it wouldn't connect.

Griff

2nd Apr 2009 at 9:09 pm

When Itunes 8 came out, it added a few things that killed the earlier version of the remote, so it needed updating too... I really like the party DJ function thing, but since I know about a handful of people with an iPod Touch or iPhone doubt it will ever be used.

Animal

2nd Apr 2009 at 9:04 pm

Power search never seems to work right for me.. As for the remote, have you updated it? (and iTunes)

Animal

2nd Apr 2009 at 9:03 pm

The power search peeves me off. How strange, iPod remote isn't working with itunes either now!

same here actually, they should field them as separate stores, one for music, one for movies one for apps

Animal

2nd Apr 2009 at 8:07 pm

I wish there was an App Store link under the iTunes Store in the left hand bit of iTunes. Slow internet makes those two clicks take too long.

Steve-Dave: Better the devil you know, though. How many of the sensible people would ever vote for Romney?
Walt Flanagan: They're going to be non-votes, not votes for Barack.
Steve-Dave: I doubt it. I'd say that with some of the stuff Romney will come out, people could vote Barack just to prevent Romney getting in.
Walt Flanagan: Well, he's so clearly a terrible human being.
Walt Flanagan: He's going to gaff his way out of the White House, even as the President is hated from all the sides of the spectrum that aren't starry eyed.
Walt Flanagan: The GOP has gone too far towards the Stupid Bigot side of things, it may take years to get back.
Walt Flanagan: I just think people who say that Obama would have to f*ck a white woman on television to not get elected are missing the danger.
Steve-Dave: Oh I think Romney will still give Obama a run for his money. Romney flip-flops a lot. Could appeal to a wide enough base overall to run it close
oatibix: Something's happened here.
Steve-Dave: This is what happens when you leave Colin.
Steve-Dave: And I don't mean "This is what happens when you leave, Colin", I mean this is what happens when you leave Colin. I left Colin and became all sensible and sh*t
Steve-Dave: I'm an equivocating motherf*cker
Rayanne Graff: Yeah, you're sh*t. i'm not sure about sensible, though.
Jimmy: Holy sh*t everything's Barry.
Steve-Dave: Everything's better!
Puffalump: Barrier
Steve-Dave: The Barryest it's ever been
Jimmy: I can't wait for more "Important Barry and changes"
Steve-Dave: Well there will be some Barry and changes coming soon, because we need more donations. It no longer just takes £10 a year to help Barry survive
Steve-Dave: It takes like... £13
